In addition to serving gifted and talented students through the Pennsylvania Governor's Schools of Excellence, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania assists Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in providing summer learning experiences for this population of learners through seed money grants. This program is the Regional Summer Schools of Excellence (RSSE).
First week of September: Release of Request For Proposal (RFP).
First week of December: Proposal deadline.
January: Notice to applicants of final status.
February: List of funded projects is posted.
Spring: Funded projects recruit participants.
July - August: RSSE projects operate.
Pennsylvania Governor's Institutes for Educators
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education offers its K-12 educators intensive week-long professional development opportunties during the summer for which credit is available.
