A Typical Schedule Print E-mail
The first few days of the program involve intensive seminars and workshops presented by staff, and team meetings providing students with a grounding in time-tested as well as cutting-edge theories and techniques of teaching, lesson design and classroom management.  On the fourth day, children arrive by bus from the surrounding communities and Kids' College begins with teams of 8 "Govies" assigned a "class" of children to teach.  For the next 3 weeks, the Kids' College is in session from Monday through Thursday.  Fridays are set aside for Team and Department planning, additional seminars and special programs.  A typical day during Kids' College might look like this:
7:30 a.m.
Breakfast (except Sundays)
8:30 a.m.
Team meetings (Monday - Friday)
 9:30 a.m. Class activities (30 minute lessons)
11:30 a.m.
Lunch
12:00 p.m.
Class activities (30 minute lessons)
2:30 p.m.
Class activities, team and department meetings (weekdays), workshops and communications (weekends)
 5:00 p.m. Dinner
7:00p.m.
Class activities, films, cultural activities (except Sundays)
9:30 p.m.
Students in residence halls, study time
